Illuminated Sheep to graze pastures new this Autumn

September 10, 2024

Toffee Factory welcomes a new addition! Ozzy Ouseburn (the sheep) has arrived and will be joined by the rest of his flock on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th October. The North East famous ‘Illuminated Sheep’ will form a free art trail spanning from the East to the West of Hadrian’s wall before coming together to light up three of Newcastle’s most iconic venues as seen below:

Toffee Factory | Thursday 3 & Friday 4 October 5pm – 8pm
Segedunum | Friday 11 & Saturday 12 October
Newcastle Cathedral | Tuesday 22 – Thursday 24 October

Created by artist, Deepa Mann-Kler and presented by Queen’s Hall Arts and Hadrian’s Wall Partnership. It was inspired by Gospels’ themes of light and pilgrimage and has since seen the flock lit up in bright colours all over the region.

Take a trip through Hadrian Wall country’s rich landscape, heritage and culture to find your inner shepherd and #FindTheFlock

Illuminated Sheep was commissioned by Northumberland County Council and developed and managed by Queen’s Hall Arts and the Hexham Culture Network. It was part of the Cultural Programme of Hexham High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) and funded by the North of Tyne Combined Authority, now the new North East Combined Authority.
